Folk in Oxford

Festivals

Oxfordshire can boast no less than seven active folk festivals! All of them are heavily dependant on teams of volunteers to help things run smoothly, so if you're looking for a way to get involved then this could be an excellent way in - and you will usually get a free ticket out of it! You can get in touch with the festivals and find out their latest news on their individual websites, by following the links on the right.

Oxford Folk Festival was cancelled in 2011, and is currently having some time out to regroup. However they are continuing to run some of their smaller events throughout the year so keep checking back for updates. There will be a community festival in the city centre in April: see Folk Weekend Oxford for details.

There are many other community festivals in the area that have a folky element and are worth checking out...

Wood Festival - a celebration of Music and Nature (some folk artists, lots of accoustic / roots type music)

Truck Festival - more mainstream artists than folk generally, but Truck also have a folk stage at the OX4 festival in the Autumn

Cornbury Festival - 'eclectic and eccentric'(!) (has a folk stage)

Bloxham May Festival - morris displays and some folk artists

Arcane Festival - unsigned acts, some folk artists

Wilderness Festival - new in 2011; a celebration of the outdoors
