New Bees is an exciting new band for 2022! This wonderful combination of experienced old hands gathered to play for Jackie Allen's son's 18th birthday in 2020 and it was such a joyful musical combination, they just had to do it again!

They are: Jackie Allen (Token Women, Asha) and Gemma Shirley (TRADarrr) lead the tunes: their twin fiddle sound is a force to be reckoned with. Heather Horsley (Old Swan Band, Token Women) on keyboards, and Guy Fletcher (Tickled Pink, The Simon Care Trio, TRADarrr, The Morris On Band, Little Johnny England) on guitar, make the most exquisite rhythm section.

In short, they have a frightening number of years of experience of playing music and gigs on the folk scene and beyond. A sound that will bring you joy and get you dancing.

Jane Bird, who is usually seen making cups of tea for the band and drawing the raffle, is delighted to have been pursued to call some smashing dances, to round off this extraordinary season of dances in Kennington. She takes care to choose dances that everyone can enjoy.

It's great to be back and dancing in-person, but we must all be careful.
