Join Vicki Swan & Jonny Dyer as they celebrate the birthday of the immortal Robert Burns.
Expect an evening of Burns songs, pipe tunes, poems, a story and some of Vicki & Jonny’s usual folk fare. Vicki will address the haggis – so bring your own comestible of choice ready to be piped in and addressed and clear a space in your lounge for a dance too!
Vicki & Jonny have inhabited the online world since the pandemic hit, exploring all the different avenues of performance possible. They spent most of 2021 touring the Zoom dance halls in the USA. Although they are now heading back into the real world again, they are finding it hard not to keep returning to their jobs in Cyber. They steadfastly refuse to change their house back from Virtual central, and still the only part of the house not being used for their virtual existence is the cupboard under the stairs where they huddle of an evening after the long walk back home from either Studio 1 or Studio 2.
Vicki was brought up into a musical household, her father being a Highland piper and teaching her the Scottish sword dance at an early age. It is from him she inherited the ability to be able to roll the Scots Lallans r, skirl the pipes and wear a kilt with pride. When Jonny married into the Swan family he inherited a set of pipes and bought a kilt.
Vicki and Jonny are two of the most versatile musicians of the folk circuit today, and on stage – and now online – the duo are recognised for the high quality of their polished concerts; not only by their charismatic singing and playing but also by their involving, winning presence and easy rapport, their polished delivery that genuinely respects their listeners, and their lively, informed back stories.
