Oxfolk Ceilidhs, Kennington - Sat 10th Feb, 7.30pm

3sticks

Left: 3Sticks and Right: Lisa Heywood

3Sticks is highly regarded and a favourite on the UK ceilidh and festival circuit, with its big, fresh, funky sound. Described by Fiddle On as ‘never less than stunning’, fiddle player Jenny Newman has her roots in the Donegal fiddle tradition and is renowned for her fluid and dexterous playing. Andy Glass plays guitar and bass pedals, in his own inimitable fashion, to bring an inventive and exciting take to the music. Pete Hemsley plays drums, and his career has taken in many facets of the music industry including producing, remixing, touring, and working with Robert Plant and Jimmy Page. He also plays with Jenny and Andy in the prog rock band Solstice.

Lisa Heywood is a folk dance caller known for her creative and enthusiastic style. She aims to make every dance as inclusive as possible and she has a varied repertoire of traditional and self-written dances. (Check out the Callers’ Development Day that she is leading earlier on the same day.) Lisa uses non-gendered calls.

Our interval entertainment comes from Toby Goss, a fine singer and musician. Amongst many other things, he is a member of Christminster Singers and has a real interest in traditional songs with great tunes and big choruses.
