Honey and the Bear with support from Little Red
Saturday 08 February 2020, 19:30 - 22:30
Hits : 1954
Contact Duncan Chappell

British folk and roots duo, Honey & the Bear, combine delicately interweaving vocal harmonies with emotive and evocative songwriting.

With a diverse range of sounds and textures, and rhythms that flow from the fast and furious to gentle ballads, their live performances are spirited and dynamic. Conjuring stories in song, they tell tales of Suffolk folklore, courage, passion and heartbreak.

The multi instrumentalist pair, comprised of songwriters Jon Hart (guitar, bass, bazouki) and Lucy Hart (guitar, ukulele, bass, banjo, mandolin & percussion), have been writing and performing together since early 2014, having met at a songwriting event two years previous. Since then, they have played at many revered venues and festivals, toured extensively across the UK as support for Sam Kelly & The Lost Boys, and travelled across the channel for their first European tour.

2019 saw the release of their first full studio album ‘Made In The Aker’ with a UK tour in October.

“Accomplished, easy-on-the-ear acoustic folk-pop for grown-ups” - fRoots Magazine

“Lucy and Jon have quickly established themselves as a must-see acoustic duo”
- Stephen Foster, BBC Radio Suffolk

“Beautiful harmonies and charisma from both aside, they were very obviously enjoying each other’s company which enhanced the atmosphere of the evening ... Jon and Lucy spoke, played and sang with ease making it all look effortless ...Their lyrics were significant without being contrived, and were enhanced by their storytelling and communication with the audience in between numbers”. - Ellie-Jane Arden

Support will be provided from the local trio Little Red who have garnered praise from far and wide for their take on indie-rock/alt-folk, inspired by artists such as The Staves, A.A Bondy and PJ Harvey.

They have enjoyed local and national radio airplay, playing live numerous times on BBC Radio, appearing at Common People Festival and headlining The 02 Academy in Oxford.

Physical copies of their debut album and three EPs have all sold out, though they are available digitally from the usual online outlets. The band recently released 'Draw Blood', their second studio album, produced by the band's drummer Marc Challans and guitarist/vocalist Ben Gosling.

Tickets will be available from WeGotTickets.com Early bird tickets £13 available until February 1st 2020, Standard tickets £15.
